although i would have initially agreed, the more i listen to the album, the more i like it. it used to only pick up for me after "siama", but now i'm good to go as of track #2. the rest of it grew on me quite quickly. has anyone else seen the music video for "ja tikai uz mani tu paskatitos"? now THAT'S something i would have thought twice about, were i prāta vētra. i'm curious as to what the english version will be like, but with a planned title like "fire monkey"... who wouldn't be?

Oddly enough, my favorite song on this album wasn't even mentioned in the review - 'Vakardienas trakums'. A bit dark, ominous, with a relentlessly driving rhythm and a nice string arrangement by Valts Puce. Lyrically a bit autobiographical perhaps? I also like maturity of 'Laikam' - the boys are getting older. Nothing wrong with that.

These guys are boring and pathetic. Their so called "exloration and innovation" is unfounded. Their music lacks, well, everything. Only thing they have going for them is their relations in business and politics. Otherwise they would be nowhere...

Egils... I'm sorry... you are way off base. I know little of Latvian popular music. I had never heard of Pratu Vetra, so I had no expectations when I went to see them in Jelgava... last August. I thought the music was great. The last concert that I went to which I thought was comparable was Genesis, before they became popular. But apart from that the review was OK.

Aggressive tempo of ethnic trance marks third album by Auļi

Drum and bagpipe ensemble Auļi occupies a particular niche not just in Latvian music, but in world music in general. Combining drums and bagpipes might not have been the most logical decision, but Auļi has found success and fame for its style and performances.

Despite 25 years of making music, Bumerangs has just two albums

Bumerangs, from the northern Latvian city of Valka, has long been a Latvian schlager music institution. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in December 2011, the band has been one of the hardest working—playing, in some years, hundreds of concerts, and entertaining audiences not just in Latvia, but elsewhere in the world.
